He has sat in the National Assembly since 2014. He was second on the national-minority list "Rasim Ljajić – Humane (SDP – CDP)" in the Serbian parliamentary election of 25 October 2026; the list won 20,305 votes (0.48%) with 8,135 of 8,392 polling stations counted, and CeSID and Ipsos projected one seat for it.

Career

Bačevac rose in Rasim Ljajić's Sandžak Democratic Party, chairing its Novi Pazar committee; in 2009 he moved the motion that removed the city's mayor Mirsad Đerlek, and he was re-elected to the city assembly in 2012, 2016 and 2020. Ljajić's Social Democratic Party of Serbia ran on lists led by the Serbian Progressive Party, from which Bačevac entered parliament in 2014 and kept his seat up to the December 2023 election, the last time on "Aleksandar Vučić – Serbia Must Not Stop". He chaired the committee on human and minority rights for two terms and, in the outgoing parliament, the health and family committee, and was deputy head of the SDPS group. Klix.ba reported that on the CeSID–Ipsos projection the Humane list's only seat would go to its first candidate, Dženan Palamar.

Positions

In 2016 he led a Novi Pazar assembly motion condemning the rehabilitation of Draža Mihailović and Milan Nedić as historical revisionism (Wikipedia). In a no-confidence debate in July 2026 he urged ministers and other politicians to condemn the nationalist incidents at the Drina regatta, asked the minister for human and minority rights, Demo Beriša, why he had not, and proposed a museum of national minorities. In August 2026 he asked the justice minister for more Bosniaks in Sandžak's courts and prosecution offices, a commercial court in Novi Pazar and a basic court in Tutin (RTV Novi Pazar).
