The SNS has governed Serbia for 14 consecutive years. It is named in the Serbia parliamentary election of 25 October 2026 as a list contesting the most seats.
History
The list is built around the Serbian Progressive Party, founded in 2008 by Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić after both left the Serbian Radical Party. At the December 2023 parliamentary election the SNS-led list won 46.75% of the vote, ahead of the opposition coalition Serbia against Violence with 23.66% and its junior partner the Socialist Party of Serbia with 6.55%. Vučić called the early election on 9 September 2026, citing the need to end what he called more than a year and a half of turbulence and the coming EXPO 2027 in Belgrade. The SNS nominated him as its prime ministerial candidate, and he resigned the presidency on 27 September 2026 to head the list.
