Career
Niculescu worked as a journalist for more than twenty years, at RFI Romania (editor-in-chief from 2000), Money Channel, TVR 1 and Digi24, and was a correspondent in Romania for French media. From 2016 to 2022 he was Romania's ambassador to France, Monaco and Andorra. In 2022 he became state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and national coordinator of the accession process to the OECD, which Financiarul reports had 24 of 25 committees closed by May 2026. Press reports in September 2026 said President Nicușor Dan favoured him as prime minister; this was never officially confirmed.
