Career

Tomac graduated in history from the University of Bucharest in 2003 and took a master's degree in 2004. He belonged to the Democratic Liberal Party from 2008 to 2013, was Secretary of State for Romanians Abroad from 2009 to 2012, and sat in the Chamber of Deputies from 2012 to 2019, chairing its committee on Romanian communities abroad and leading the PMP group. He founded the People's Movement Party in 2013, led it in 2018 to 2020 and again from 2022 to 2026. An MEP since 2 July 2019, he sat with the European People's Party until 2024 and since then with Renew Europe.
