He was a senator and deputy for Dâmbovița, president of the Financial Supervisory Authority from 2017 to 2019, and has been vice-governor of the National Bank of Romania since 2019. He is named among the possible contenders for Prime Minister of Romania in 2026.

Career

Badea studied at the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banks and Securities of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and, according to press reports, took a doctorate in accounting in 2005. For the PSD he was senator for Dâmbovița from 2012 to 2016 and deputy for the county from 2016, resigning the seat in 2017. He was president of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) from June 2017 to October 2019. On 11 October 2019 he became vice-governor of the National Bank of Romania, the post he holds today.
