Xolani Khumalo

He is a councillor in the City of Ekurhuleni for ActionSA, a centre-right party, having been sworn in in November 2025. ActionSA named him in October 2025 as its candidate for mayor of Ekurhuleni in the 4 November 2026 municipal election.

Career

TimesLIVE reports that Khumalo grew up in Tembisa and became known as the host of Sizok'thola, a Moja Love show in which he confronts alleged drug dealers. ActionSA announced him as its Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate in October 2025, and he was sworn in as an Ekurhuleni councillor in November 2025. Reports describe him as having limited political experience; party leader Herman Mashaba answered that he too had no governance experience when he became mayor of Johannesburg.

Positions

TimesLIVE lists his plans for Ekurhuleni as an independent anti-corruption unit to investigate officials, cancel corrupt contracts and blacklist unscrupulous service providers; a 100-day blitz on potholes, streetlights, water supply and public spaces; public dashboards to track service delivery; and local jobs through insourcing security guards and cleaners, an e-planning system and township enterprise hubs.

Controversies

TimesLIVE reports that Khumalo was arrested in 2023 in connection with the death of Robert Varrie, after an alleged sting operation featured on his show. The charges were withdrawn in 2025 and he left the Palm Ridge magistrate's court a free man. He maintains his innocence.
