Career
Chow was born on 24 March 1957 in British Hong Kong and came to Toronto at 13. She was a Toronto school trustee from 1985 to 1991, a Metropolitan Toronto councillor from 1992 to 1997 and a Toronto city councillor from 1998 to 2005. She was New Democratic MP for Trinity—Spadina from 2006 to 2014, placed third in the 2014 mayoral race with 23%, and lost the 2015 federal contest in Spadina—Fort York to Liberal Adam Vaughan. She won the 2023 mayoral by-election with 37% of the vote.
