Career

Tory was the ninth commissioner of the Canadian Football League from 1997 to 2000 and leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario from 2004 to 2009. He was the 65th Mayor of Toronto from 2014 until he stepped down on 17 February 2023, after admitting a serious error of judgement over a relationship with a former staffer. He is independent in municipal politics. He has since commented on politics in the media and endorsed candidates, and on 3 March 2026 said he would not challenge incumbent Olivia Chow.
