Career

Aziz was a state deputy in Amazonas from 1991 to 1995 and vice mayor of Manaus from 1997 to 2002. He was lieutenant governor of Amazonas from 2003 to 2010, elected in 2002 and 2006 on Eduardo Braga's ticket. He ran for mayor of Manaus in 2008 for PMN and finished third. He became governor on 31 March 2010 and was elected in his own right in 2010 with 64% in the first round, serving until April 2014. He has been senator for Amazonas since 1 February 2015. His earlier parties include PDC, PPR, PP, DEM and PMN.
