David Almeida

Itatiaia reports that Almeida holds a law degree and worked as a salesperson, radio host, banker and airport ticket agent before politics. He was elected state deputy of Amazonas in 2006, 2010 and 2014, and was elected president of the Legislative Assembly in December 2016 for 2017 to 2018. After the Superior Electoral Court removed Governor José Melo in 2017, he served as interim governor for about four months. In 2018 he ran for governor for the PSB and finished third with 417,203 votes (23.59%), according to Wikipedia. He joined Avante in 2019, was elected mayor of Manaus in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, resigned on 31 March 2026, and was approved as Avante's gubernatorial candidate at its state convention in July 2026.
