Konaković played professional basketball and later worked as a basketball director, and took a master's in sport management at Sarajevo in 2017. A member of the SDA from 2004 to 2018, he sat in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly from 2010 to 2014 and was Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton from 2015 to 2018. He founded NiP in 2018, sat in the House of Peoples from 2019 to 2022 and in the House of Representatives from 2022 to 2023. NiP became the largest party in Sarajevo in 2020 but lost heavily in the 2024 municipal elections.
