A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Columbia University, he led Our Party (Naša stranka) from 2021 to 2025, was Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton twice, and has been Minister of Communications and Transport since 2023. Career
Forto studied media and journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1999) and international affairs at Columbia University (2001). He worked as a political consultant at Eurasia Group and then held management posts in construction and industry, including the Sarajevo branch of Nexe Group. He joined Our Party in 2009, sat in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly and the Federal House of Peoples from 2015 to 2018, and was Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton from December 2018 to March 2020 and from January 2021 to January 2023. He became party president in September 2021 and was succeeded in October 2025 by Sabina Ćudić. Since 25 January 2023 he has been Minister of Communications and Transport in the Council of Ministers.
