Schiaretti trained as an accountant. He served as federal interventor of Santiago del Estero province in 1993–1995, was a national deputy in 1995–1997 and again in 2001–2002, and was Vice Governor of Córdoba in 2003–2007. He won the Córdoba governorship in 2007 and held it until 2011, then returned in 2015 and served until 2023. In 2023 he headed the Hacemos por Nuestro País alliance in the presidential election and placed fourth in the first round.
