He has been senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta since 2005 and U.S. Senator from Georgia since winning the 2020–21 special election. He is named among the possible contenders for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.

Career

Warnock graduated from Morehouse College in 1991 and earned his master's degrees and doctorate at Union Theological Seminary, finishing in 2006. He has led Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. preached, since 2005. He won Georgia's special Senate election with 51.04% against Kelly Loeffler and was re-elected in 2022 with 51.4% in a runoff against Herschel Walker. He is the first African American elected to the Senate from Georgia.
