Career
Rubio studied political science at the University of Florida (1993) and took a law degree at the University of Miami (1996). He was a West Miami city commissioner from 1998 to 2000 and sat in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008, serving as Speaker from 2006 to 2008. He won U.S. Senate elections in Florida in 2010, 2016 and 2022, and ran for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, suspending his campaign on 15 March 2016. He became Secretary of State in 2025.
