Career

Born in Atlanta in 1987, Ossoff graduated from Georgetown University in 2009 and the London School of Economics in 2013. He was a national security staffer for Representative Hank Johnson from 2007 to 2012 and then managing director of the documentary company Insight: The World Investigates. In the 2017 special election for Georgia's 6th district he led the first round with 48.1 percent but lost the runoff to Karen Handel, 51.8 to 48.2. In the 2020 Senate race he trailed incumbent David Perdue 47.95 to 49.73 percent in November, then won the 5 January 2021 runoff with 50.61 percent. He was then the youngest incumbent senator. In 2026 he faces Republican Mike Collins.

He supports abortion rights, cannabis legalisation, climate action and comprehensive immigration reform, and opposes defunding the police. He supports Israel's security while backing ceasefire calls, and voted against some military aid to Israel in 2024 and 2025, according to Wikipedia.
