Career
Burgum took an MBA at Stanford in 1980, co-founded Great Plains Software in 1983 and sold it to Microsoft in 2001 for $1.1 billion. In 2008 he co-founded the venture firm Arthur Ventures. He was Governor of North Dakota from 2016 to 2024. He launched a presidential campaign in June 2023 and suspended it on 4 December 2023. The Senate confirmed him as Secretary of the Interior on 30 January 2025 by 79 votes to 18.
