Career
Andersson holds a master's degree in economics from the Stockholm School of Economics (1992) and did doctoral studies there with research periods in Vienna and at Harvard. She joined the Social Democratic youth league in 1983, was political adviser to Prime Minister Göran Persson from 1996, Secretary of State at the Finance Ministry from 2004 to 2006, adviser to Mona Sahlin in opposition, and head of the Swedish Tax Agency from 2009 to 2012. She was Minister for Finance from 2014 to 2021, chaired the IMF's International Monetary and Financial Committee from 2020 to 2022, and has sat in the Riksdag for Stockholm County since 2014.
