She has led the Centre Party since 13 November 2025 and has been a member of the Riksdag for Stockholm since 2022. She previously worked at McKinsey and was chief executive of the business federation Företagarna. She is named as the Centre Party's possible candidate for Prime Minister of Sweden in the 13 September 2026 election.
Career
Thand Ringqvist graduated in business administration from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1996 and also studied Russian and economics. She worked as a consultant at McKinsey from 1997 to 2005, was chief executive of Företagarna from 2011 to 2015, and later chaired the venture capital association SVCA and, from December 2019 to May 2022, the company Storskogen. The magazine Resumé named her Lobbyist of the Year in 2013. She entered the Riksdag in 2022, where she is deputy chair of the Committee on Industry and Trade and a member of the War Delegation and the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs. She ran for the party leadership in 2022 without winning and was elected leader on 13 November 2025 after Anna-Karin Hatt resigned.
Positions
Her Riksdag motions in 2025/26 deal with mineral policy, regional development, energy, climate and business credit. She leads the Centre Party, which describes itself as a party of green, social and decentralised liberalism; Wikipedia places it at the centre to centre-right, with market-friendly policies, support for small firms and environmental protection through cooperation with landowners. The party is in opposition to the government and belongs to the liberal ALDE and Renew Europe groups.
