She previously worked at the National Youth Development Agency and served in Parliament. She is the ANC's frontrunner for Mayor of Buffalo City in the 2026 local government election.

Career

Faku worked at the National Youth Development Agency and served in Parliament before moving into local government; she resigned as an MP in November 2021 amid speculation about the Buffalo City mayoralty. She was first elected regional chair of the ANC's Dr WB Rubusana region in May 2022 and later won a second term. In 2023 a special council meeting elected her mayor, after she defeated DA caucus leader Susan Bentley by 61 votes. The Daily Dispatch reported in 2026 that she was interviewed on 14 July by ANC leaders alongside Ncedo Kumbaca and Nocawe Mafu, and described her as the frontrunner.
