He was Mayor of Belgrade from 2008 to 2013 and has been a member of the National Assembly since February 2024. He leads the European Serbia list in the 2026 parliamentary election and is named in the race for the next Prime Minister of Serbia in 2026.
Career
Đilas was born in Zemun, Belgrade, on 22 February 1967 and trained as an aeronautical engineer at the University of Belgrade. He co-founded Radio B92 in 1989 and later built media and production companies, including Multikom Group and Emotion Production. He directed the President's People's Office from 2004 to 2007, was minister without portfolio for the National Investment Plan from 2007 to 2008, and was Mayor of Belgrade from 2008 until his dismissal in November 2013. He led the Democratic Party from 2012 to 2014, founded the Alliance for Serbia in 2018 and has led the SSP since April 2019.
- Member of the National Assembly of Serbia 2014–2014
- Mayor of Belgrade 2008–2013
- Minister without portfolio of the Republic of Serbia 2007–2008
Positions
Wikipedia gives the SSP's ideology as social democracy and places it in the centre-left. Đilas supports Serbia's accession to the European Union. On Kosovo he has said the solution is reconciliation rather than partition, and in 2019 said he would never sign an agreement recognising Kosovo's independence. Wikipedia reports he has argued for state-led investment, mainly in agriculture and energy. He took part in the 2020 opposition boycott and, in December 2023, was third on the Serbia Against Violence list.
