Eisenkot was drafted in 1978 and served until 2019, as head of Northern Command from 2006 to 2011, Deputy Chief of the General Staff from 2013 to 2014 and Chief of Staff from 2015 to 2019. He entered the Knesset in 2022 with National Unity, was minister without portfolio in the unity government from 2023 to 2024, and resigned from the Knesset in July 2025. He leads the Yashar party.
