A former Serbian Radical Party member and a defence lawyer in high-profile cases, he has spoken out repeatedly against the protest movement. He was 14th on the list Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia, which came second in the Serbian parliamentary election of 25 October 2026.
Career
A Belgrade law graduate with his own law office, Đukanović was a political commentator and radio host before entering parliament and later hosted TV talk shows. He stood for Belgrade's city assembly for the Serbian Radical Party in 2008 and joined the breakaway SNS that year. He chaired the State Lottery of Serbia's assembly from 2013 to 2015 and has been an MP since 2014, chairing the judiciary committee in the 2020 parliament. His current mandate, won on the list "Aleksandar Vučić – Serbia Must Not Stop", was confirmed on 6 February 2024; he is a deputy member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation. As a lawyer he has represented Predrag Koluvija, the main defendant in the Jovanjica cannabis-plantation case. On 26 October 2026 he congratulated the Student List, praised the SNS's 1.7 million votes and said the party would go into opposition "singing".
Positions
In 2014 Đukanović observed the elections held by the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk authorities in Ukraine, saying he went as a private citizen; in 2022 he called for the "denazification" of the Balkans. During the protests that followed the Novi Sad canopy collapse he wrote in November 2024 that "anarchist terrorists" and a "pseudo-elite" had to be fought, "if necessary, with force". In December 2024, speaking about pupils joining the protests, he said children were the state's property until adulthood, later calling the remark metaphorical. In August 2025 he wrote that all state universities should be closed and replaced by one integrated university run by the state, saying every year of delay brought new recruits for "radical anarchists".
Controversies
In 2023 the disciplinary court of the Bar Association of Serbia upheld a fine of 300,000 dinars imposed on him for interviewing his own client Koluvija on his show in October 2021; the court found he had used the media to put pressure on the proceedings, while he said he had not breached professional ethics. In May 2025 the Belgrade Bar Association's disciplinary prosecutor indicted him over his remark that a child is the state's property until adulthood, arguing that it contradicted the constitution and international conventions; if found responsible he faces removal from the bar register. He did not accept the charge; the case was pending as of May 2025.
