An independent, he supported the student-led anti-corruption protests that began in November 2024. He was 8th on the Student List – Students Win, which won the most votes in the Serbian parliamentary election of 25 October 2026.
Career
Stanić studied acting at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad under Dejan Mijač and joined Atelje 212 in 1987. He has played more than 100 stage roles and many on screen, including King Alexander Obrenović in The End of the Obrenović Dynasty (1995), Predrag Marjanović in Ubice mog oca and leads in Goran Marković's films Falsifikator and Delirijum tremens, which won him festival awards. He chaired the Association of Dramatic Artists of Serbia (1998–2000), was artistic director of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka (2005–2007) and has produced films through his companies Balkan film and Drina film since 2007. In April 2016 he signed an open letter urging votes for the Democratic Party and joined its closing campaign event; in September 2026 Politika and B92, described by Wikipedia as pro-government media, cited this to question the list's claim to offer new faces.
Positions
Stanić said in 2025 that he would accept a place on the students' list despite disliking politics and fearing for his career, because one must fight for what one believes in. Presented at the list's first rally in Novi Sad on 10 September 2026, he said he was proud to be among the 250 chosen. He told Danas that spending on culture is unacceptably small and that support should go to contemporary work and independent artists, and predicted defeat for those who once called themselves the Serbian Radical Party. In October he said the list's views on Kosovo, Republika Srpska and sanctions on Russia were set out in its programme, and rejected the label “blockader list”. When public broadcaster RTS postponed the series Pupin, in which he appears, citing campaign rules, he said he suspected another motive.
