He has sat in the National Assembly since 2022 as an independent elected on lists of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), and chaired it as acting speaker in February and March 2024. He was 4th on the list Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia, which came second in the Serbian parliamentary election of 25 October 2026.

Career

Born in Dobra Voda near Bojnik, Radenović took his doctorate in 1979, taught for two decades at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Kragujevac and was a full professor at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 2000 to 2013. Wikipedia credits his papers and citations with lifting the University of Belgrade into the Shanghai ranking's top 300 in 2016. He later signed his work for King Saud University in Saudi Arabia; in 2019 he said he had agreed with President Aleksandar Vučić to work for Serbia again. The SNS placed him second on its list in 2022 and ninth in 2023, and he was elected both times. As the oldest member he presided over the new assembly from 6 February 2024 until Ana Brnabić was elected speaker on 20 March. He sits on the committee on education and science.

Positions

In the 2022 campaign Radenović credited the SNS with improving conditions in Serbia during its decade in power. In 2019 he told RTS that children in Serbia start mathematics with too many books and too little play, and that the University of Belgrade should not try to become like Harvard and lose its soul. In February 2024 Vladimir Obradović, a Belgrade professor and the opposition coalition Serbia Against Violence's candidate for mayor, wrote him an open letter, published by N1, saying he had turned from a scientist into a 'party soldier' and asking why he had agreed to open a parliament that, Obradović wrote, rested on 'theft'.
