Career
Vukosavić took his degree (1985), master's (1987) and doctorate (1989) at the Belgrade School of Electrical Engineering. He worked at the Nikola Tesla Institute (1986), Emerson Electric's ESCD (1988), Vickers Electric (1992) and Moog (2000), taught at his home school from 1995 and became full professor in 2002. His fields are electromechanical energy conversion, digital control, power electronics and industrial robotics; he is an editor of IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion and won the Tesla Award for engineering achievement. A member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia, he was elected to SANU as corresponding member in 2015 and full member in 2021, and is secretary of its technical sciences department. In December 2022 he was elected president of the newly created Scientific Council of the state power utility EPS.
Positions
Vukosavić argues that Rio Tinto's planned lithium mine in the Jadar valley should not be built. In September 2024 he told N1 the government was seeking a “quasi-scientific screen” for it, said SANU had already advised against mining there, and urged Serbia to exploit its own minerals with modern methods, as Norway did. In April 2025, at the EU Delegation in Belgrade, he read a letter that he said 3,000 academics backed, asking the European Commission to reject Jadar as an EU strategic project. In 2023 he wrote that EPS suffered from politically loyal but unqualified managers, warned that making it a joint-stock company could open it to big capital, and backed modern thermal power units with lower emissions. At the students' protest at Slavija on 28 June 2025 he said of those in power that they destroy everything they touch, “Kosovo and Metohija, water, land, air, the university”.
