It holds 6 of the 120 Knesset seats and joined the government in 2022. It is a candidate for the party winning the most seats in the 2026 Israeli legislative election.
History
Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari founded the party on 13 November 2012 after leaving National Union, as Otzma LeYisrael. It missed the threshold in 2013, 2015, September 2019 and 2020. It was part of the Union of Right-Wing Parties in April 2019 and won 1 seat on a joint list in 2021 and 6 seats on the joint Religious Zionist list in 2022. It joined the government by a coalition agreement with Likud on 25 November 2022, left in January 2025 over the ceasefire and rejoined in March 2025. Ben-Gvir said in July 2026 it would not ally with the Religious Zionist Party.
Positions
Wikipedia describes the party as Religious Zionist and Kahanist, the successor of the outlawed Kach party. It calls for annexation of the West Bank, opposes Palestinian statehood and the Oslo Accords, and seeks Israeli sovereignty over the Temple Mount. Critics including sociologist Eva Illouz call it Jewish supremacist; the party disputes racism charges.
