Career

Born on 30 April 1981, Bolsonaro graduated in law from Candido Mendes University. He was a Rio de Janeiro state deputy from 2003 to 2019, elected four times (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014), and finished fourth in the 2016 Rio mayoral race. In 2018 he won a Senate seat with about 4.38 million votes. He has belonged to the Liberal Party since 2021, after earlier memberships including PP, PFL, PSC, PSL and Republicanos. He announced his presidential run on 5 December 2025 with his father's endorsement; according to Wikipedia he led the first round on 4 October 2026 with 47% against 45% for President Lula and goes to the runoff on 25 October.
