History
Camille Chamoun founded the party in 1958. During the civil war of 1975 to 1990 it aligned with Maronite Christian factions and ran the Tigers Militia as its armed wing from 1968 to 1980. In 1976 it joined the Lebanese Front coalition alongside the Kataeb Party. Camille Dory Chamoun has been party president since 2021. In the 2022 election he won the single seat of the party, in the Baabda district with 1,876 votes, on a list with the Lebanese Forces Party.
Positions
Wikipedia says the party calls itself non-sectarian, though historically it drew Christian support, and names Lebanese nationalism and economic liberalism as its ideology. It lists freedom of expression and religious freedoms among its core values. The party is affiliated with the Arab Liberal Federation and is described as part of the Strong Republic coalition. Its headquarters are in the Achrafieh neighbourhood of Beirut.
