It holds 13 of 128 seats and, since February 2025, sits in opposition to the government of Nawaf Salam. It is named in the 2026 Lebanese parliamentary election race.
History
Michel Aoun founded the movement in 1994. In 2005 it became the largest Christian bloc after the Cedar Revolution, and in 2016 Aoun was elected president, ending a 29-month vacancy. In 2022 it lost seats and the Lebanese Forces became the largest Christian party. In October 2024 it announced the end of its alliance with Hezbollah, and in February 2025 it moved into opposition. Gebran Bassil, Aoun's son-in-law, has led it since 2015.
