Career
Baroin was born on 21 June 1965 and was a political correspondent for Europe 1 from 1988 to 1992. Elected to the National Assembly in 1993, he has been mayor of Troyes since 1995. He was Minister for Overseas Territories (2005-2007), Interior Minister (March-May 2007), Budget Minister (2010-2011) and Finance Minister (2011-2012), and a senator for Aube from 2014 to 2017. He moved from the RPR to the UMP and, in 2015, to The Republicans. He has been an associate professor of macroeconomics at HEC Paris since 2016; in October 2020 he said he would not run for president.
