A graduate of HEC, Sciences Po and the École nationale d'administration, he has sat in the National Assembly for Corrèze again since 2024. He is a member of the Socialist Party. He is named among the possible contenders for the 2027 French presidential election.
Career
After the ENA in 1980 Hollande advised President François Mitterrand. He was a National Assembly member for Corrèze (1988-1993, 1997-2012, and since 2024), First Secretary of the Socialist Party from 1997 to 2008, Mayor of Tulle (2001-2008) and head of the Corrèze departmental council (2008-2012). He won the 2012 presidential election and served one term. On 1 December 2016 he announced he would not seek re-election.
