Emily Lowan has led it since September 2025. It holds two of 93 seats and is the Greens in the British Columbia general election of 24 October 2026.

History

Adriane Carr was the first leader. Later leaders were Stuart Parker, Carr again, Jane Sterk, Andrew Weaver, Sonia Furstenau and, since September 2025, Emily Lowan. The party won no seat from 1983 to 2009 despite 12.39% of the vote in 2001. Weaver won its first seat in 2013. Its best result was 16.84% and three seats in 2017, after which it signed a confidence and supply agreement with the NDP. It won two seats in both 2020 and 2024. A cooperation agreement with the NDP was signed in December 2024; in February 2026 the party decided not to renew it. For 2026, Lowan, who holds no seat, runs in Saanich North and the Islands, and the party has 74 candidates.

Positions

The party is associated with green politics, and Wikipedia lists participatory democracy, sustainability, social justice, respect for diversity, ecological wisdom and nonviolence among its principles. The same article notes that observers have described it as both right-wing and left-wing, and that its policies under Parker were notably leftist.
