Career
Wüst joined the CDU in 1990 and was elected to the Rhede city council in 1994. He chaired the Junge Union in North Rhine-Westphalia from 2000 to 2006, studied law at the University of Münster and qualified as a lawyer in 2003. He entered the state parliament in 2005 and was the state CDU's general secretary from 2006 to 2010. From 2017 to 2021 he was transport minister under Armin Laschet. He became CDU state chairman on 23 October 2021 and Minister-President on 27 October 2021, and the CDU came first in the 2022 state election under his leadership.
