She has sat on Surrey City Council for the Surrey First slate since 2018 and was re-elected in 2022. She is Surrey First's candidate for Mayor of Surrey in the municipal election of 17 October 2026.

Career

Annis was first elected to Surrey City Council in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, when Global News and Wikipedia report she received the most votes of any council candidate. She is executive director of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers. Earlier she chaired Osteoporosis Canada and Zajac Ranch and served as a director of Uniti and the BC Sports Hall of Fame; she sits on the boards of the Surrey Cares Foundation, the Surrey Arts Festival and the Metro Vancouver Regional District. She announced her run for mayor on 3 September 2025.

Positions

Annis calls public safety her single biggest priority. According to Wikipedia's account of her campaign she would cancel the proposed City Centre arena, shift spending to neighbourhood parks, pools and recreation, revive a light-rail plan, end the city's dispute over the police transition and form an advisory panel of former mayors. She says council should be 'picking fights with gangs, extortionists and drug dealers'. Mayor Brenda Locke says Annis has voted against every public amenity and capital project the council proposed.

Controversies

Freedom-of-information records reported earlier in 2026 showed she had contacted then-police chief Norm Lipinski about impaired-driving enforcement near the golf course where she lives; she said she was relaying residents' concerns.
