History
The PSB was founded on 6 August 1947 from the Democratic Left faction of the National Democratic Union. The military regime abolished it in 1965 and it was refounded in 1989. Its best presidential result was 21.32% in 2014 with Marina Silva as candidate. In 2022 its member Geraldo Alckmin was elected Vice President alongside Lula.
