Controversies
Diario Correo reports that the National Electoral Board (JNE) removed Requejo from the mayoralty of José Leonardo Ortiz in May for nepotism, over the hiring of Nilda Cabrejos Benavides, wife of his nephew, at the district municipality. The same outlet reports that the electoral court of Chiclayo declared inadmissible the Somos Perú list for the district because five workers of his administration appeared on the councillor list.
