He co-founded the company Telerik in 2002 and has been Mayor of Sofia since 13 November 2023, elected for an alliance of We Continue the Change, Democratic Bulgaria and Save Sofia. Terziev attended the First English Language School in Sofia and graduated in business administration from the American University in Bulgaria. In 2002 he co-founded the software company Telerik with three partners and served as its chief executive. Summit Partners invested in the company in 2008, and in October 2014 the founders sold it to Progress Software for 262.5 million US dollars, which Wikipedia calls the largest deal in the Bulgarian technology business up to then. He won the Sofia mayoral runoff on 5 November 2023 with 48.17 per cent of the vote and took office on 13 November 2023 as the city's 75th mayor.
