Career

Born on 3 June 1959, Benabdallah studied at the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales and began as a translator in the Moroccan courts. From 1997 to 2000 he directed the PPS newspapers al-Bayan and Bayan al-Yawm. He was Minister of Communication (2002–2007), a member of the House of Councillors for Rabat-Agdal (2003–2009), ambassador to Italy (2008–2009) and PPS secretary general from 2010. As Minister of Housing and Urbanism (2012–2018) he sat in Abdelilah Benkirane's cabinet, one of four PPS ministers in that coalition.
