A former radio executive and director of the HC Škoda Plzeň hockey club, he has been Mayor of Plzeň since October 2022. He briefly held a parliamentary seat in 2025. He leads ANO in Plzeň as its candidate for Mayor of Plzeň in the 2026 municipal election.

Career

Zarzycký was born on 7 September 1977 and graduated from the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. He directed radio stations from 1998 to 2012, then ran the HC Škoda Plzeň hockey club. An ANO member since 2014, he was a Plzeň 1 district councillor from 2014, first deputy mayor from 2018 to 2022, a regional councillor from 2020 and deputy regional governor in 2022. He has been mayor since 18 October 2022. In the 2025 parliamentary election he won 12,103 preference votes, a record for the region, but gave up the seat in November 2025 to stay mayor.

Positions

Zarzycký's stated focus is security: crime prevention, repeat offenders and legal issues around immigration, which he says need both municipal and national legislative action. Seznam Zprávy reports that under him Plzeň rebuilt the western part of Republic Square as a pedestrian zone, with further repairs planned at the Peklo cultural centre and Jirásek Square.
