Vereš was born on 3 October 1995 in Ostrava and studied public administration at the Law Faculty of Masaryk University. He joined ANO in 2013 and became Ostrava's youngest city representative after the 2014 elections. He has been mayor of the Slezská Ostrava district since November 2018; in October 2022 he was elected unopposed, with opposition votes as well. The Czech Union of Towns and Municipalities named him best mayor for 2018 to 2022. Since December 2022 he has been a regional councillor and vice-president of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, and since January 2023 chairs ANO in Ostrava. He sits in the Council of Europe's Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and the EU Committee of the Regions, working on territorial planning and climate policy.
